More Information
50 Stafford Street was constructed to house the Archdiocese of Winnipeg Chancery Office. The building, designed in the modernist International Style, was conceived by by pioneering Winnipeg modern architects Green Blankstein Russell. The chancery office is a low, long structure featuring large areas of plate glass and unembellished sections clad in buff brick, a material which recalls those used the neighbouring St. Mary's Academy, a facility also operated by the Catholic Church. Fin walls of brick along the east and west facades partially enclose north and south courtyard spaces.
