More Information
Built at a cost of $3 million, this pair of apartment towers at Portage Avenue and Madison Avenue was developed by Lord Gort, an Irish peer who obtained a substantial amount of Winnipeg real estate in the St. James area just before the 1929 stock market crash. The name of the buildings – Kiltartan Towers – derives from Gort’s title as Lord Kiltartan.
