More Information

Waterfront Drive is a unique waterfront community consisting of 16 residential condos, commercial and office space with breathtaking cityscape and river views. The design focuses on energy and cost efficient solutions, and promotes healthy 'green' living/work. ft3 was the developer and architect on the project. Construction was completed in September 2007 for $8 million. The second floor of The Strand houses ft3's head office, at 697sq.m. (7,500 sq.ft.), which was awarded LEED CI Gold certification for Commercial Interiors in 2011.

Recognition and Awards

  • LEED CI Gold (2011)

Design Characteristics

Developer:ft3
  • The ft3 office space is designed to inspire creativity, facilitate communication, and empower collaboration. Natural light floods 94 per cent of the workspaces in this open-concept office, optimising energy use. Instead of a hierarchical structure with individual offices and cubicles, the workstations are clustered into studio pods. Each cluster is task or project based, thus enabling new graduates and staff to work side-by-side with seasoned design professionals and senior partners.
  • The ft3 office has become a learning lab in sustainable design for staff and clients. For example, raw surfaces, exposed ceilings, recycled carpets, modular demountable glass walls, etc., demonstrate performance and method of construction. The many LEED accredited professionals – architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and technicians – who work at ft3, realise that LEED is just the beginning and are committed to leadership in sustainability over the long haul.
