777 Portage Avenue was built in 1972, developed by Eagle Development Limited. The building's design is dominated by projecting, heavy-looking window-surrounds, which shade the south-facing windows – serving as a variety of permanent awning. This characteristic recalls many other structures of this period and the then popular Brutalist approach.

In 2011 a four-storey addition was erected on the north side of the original 1970s building under the direction of 777 Portage Avenue's then owners, Cushman & Wakefield. At this time the main, Portage Avenue, entrance was altered to match the north-side addition.
