Design Characteristics

- There is only one way to add to a 1914 old beauty of a school, and that is with panache – while the 1965 gym added to Earl Grey School is not large, it was added in the study because it is a rare example of its type; to a compact cube of brown brick was added a wavy roofline with projecting eaves in contrasting metal
- The waves probably simply continue the steel trusses of the roof but on the exterior it is both whimsical and attention-grabbing
- The gym addition is linked on the northwest side of the building and lets onto the rear yard
- Earl Grey School was a Canadian pilot project as the first middle years school
