More Information
384 Talbot Avenue is home to the Sherwood Assembly of God. The building once held Elmwood Bethel Mennonite Church. Its architecture features a typically ecclesiastical gable roof; lending interest to the front facade is a blocky entry vestibule clad in large sections of plate glass and topped by a heavy box form. This asymmetric approach to the entry elevation ties the building to the idiosyncratic and exploratory forms which often characterized suburban church buildings in the post-war decades, while the rest of the structure ties it to more historic and prosaic vernacular forms. The Sherwood Assembly of God had previously been located at 425 Washington Avenue.
