Biography

Sasa Radulovic is an architect and founding partner of Winnipeg-based 5468796 Architecture.

Born in Yugoslavia, Sasa immigrated to Canada in 1996 and completed a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture degree at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture in 1999 and 2003 respectively. Throughout his university years Sasa worked part-time at Cohlmeyer Architecture Limited, a position that transitioned to full-time associate after graduation and where he remained until 2007.

Sasa co-founded 5468796 Architecture with Johanna Hurme in 2007. Working around a single table, the 20 members of 5468796 believed that every client, user and civic environment - regardless of budget - deserves an outcome that advances architecture. Sasa believes that great architecture can have a transformation impact on our city and has worked relentlessly to improve Winnipeg through architectural projects, events and initiatives.

While first and foremost a practitioner, Sasa has taught at the University of Manitoba, the University of Toronto Daniels Faculty of Architecture, the University of Montreal and at Chicago's Illinois Institute for Technology Faculty of Architecture. He is an active member of the Board of Directors of the University of Manitoba Partners Program, an organization that promotes communication between professionals, industry, educators and students, and is co-director of the Prairie Design Award. Sasa has also lectured extensively at universities, forums and festivals across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.

Sasa is passionate about architectural advocacy, and has initiated and co-created a number of design related events and programs in Winnipeg that serve to improve the public appreciation of architecture. These events include On the Boards, a monthly peer review event that brings local practitioners together for critique of work in progress; the Forks Warming Huts International design competition and the RAIC 2014 Architectural Festival. His current ongoing projects include the Forks Railside Development, Beacon clinic, and mixed-use Inglewood, Calgary project, IW09 (MIPIM finalist, Canadian Architect Award of Merit).
