St Peter's Parish was formed in 1956 as an extension church. It was not a reassignment of the former St Peter's Church which was disestablished in the 1930s. Territory was ceded from St George Crescentwood and construction began immediately on a temporary church. Built in the "Butler Building" style, it was completed in 1956. The first service was held 22 January 1956. Construction began on the present church in 1960. The church was dedicated 30 April 1961. The old church was then used as the Parish Hall. In 1979 a narthex, offices and meeting rooms were added. The church was consecrated on 17 January 1980. The parish hall was completely renovated in 1993 and dedicated 3 October 1993. In 2004, the worship space was also renovated and made wheelchair accessible. Services were held in the parish hall while construction was going on. In 2005, as part of their Meditation Garden, a labyrinth was constructed on front lawn of St Peter's Church.Source: Anglican Church of Canada Diocese of Rupert's Land Archives
