More Information

École George McDowell is of a simple rectangular shape clad in white stucco accented with blue details, with mixed angled and flat roofing. An addition was designed by local architects Macdonald, Cockburn & McFeetors and constructed in 1985 to alleviate the St. Vital School Division's overcrowding issue. One of the school's notable features is its weight room, one of the first public school to designate a weight training space for students.

École George-McDowell is a French-immersion school for students in Grades 6 to 8. However, until 2016 the school only offered education in English. The school is named after a former trustee and secretary-treasurer of the Woodlawn School District.
