More Information
Island Lakes Community School opened in 2001 to full student capacity. Although additions were required immediately, adequate funds were not granted for the construction of new classrooms until 2008. The school is made up of a mostly flat-roofed, single-storey structure with the exception of the gymnasium. The building is clad in red brick and rough-hewn Tyndall limestone, as is typical of many Winnipeg schools. Details on the building's facade are executed with limestone brick in the form of trim and geometric arrangements. The school has daycare facilities and an expansive field with a splash pad, playground, and scenic walking trails for school and community use.
Island Lakes Community School currently offers education in English for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students in the Louis Riel School Division.
