Living Together: The Story of De Warren follows a group of young people during the creation of a housing cooperative that aims to be sustainable, social, and affordable. The project is ambitious: it is the first of its kind in the Netherlands, and within the group of young residential pioneers, nobody has ever built a house before.
An Amsterdam-based group of friends dreams of living sustainably, affordably and, above all, together. De Warren is the first realized self build housing cooperative in Amsterdam and consists of 36 households. This special way of living together requires a different role for the architect, municipality, and contractor. Without any prior knowledge, the collective managed to find its way in developing, designing and building a collective residential building. But at what cost? Living Together shows what it takes to realize this special form of collective housing.

Sponsored by h5 architecture. Free screening as part of the Architecture and Design Film Festival.
