More Information

St. Boniface Heritage Garden honours the figures who helped shape Manitoba’s history. Located in front of the archbishop's residence, the garden is a tribute to women’s religious congregations who were instrumental in the development of Manitoba’s health, education, and social service systems and to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate who helped found many mission communities in the province. The monument “Legacy of Care, Courage, and Compassion” was designed by artist Madeleine Vrignon. In 2018, a space honouring the Métis nation was opened. The landscaping and interpretive panels were designed by two Métis women, architect Janelle Fillion, and artist Candice Lipischak.
