More Information
The Bell MTS Place is an indoor sports arena and entertainment centre, built between 2003 and 2004. The sports and entertainment complex, which sits on the site of the demolished Eaton’s Department Store, was conceived in the early 2000s as an opportunity for growth in downtown Winnipeg. Postmodern in design, Bell MTS Place references the historical buildings of downtown, especially the former Eaton’s Building, through the use of red brick. Due to the tight schedule and winter construction plans, the centre was built using a combination of glass, steel, and precast concrete.
