The first stage of this structure was constructed in the mid-sixties at a cost of approximately $350,000. Original tenants included members of the St. James Medical Dental Centre, previously located at 2031 Portage Avenue. Green Blankstein Russell’s modern design was split-level, low and wide, with a flat roof and brick cladding with extensive fenestration. Space was also provided for a pharmacy and coffee shop.
