Gaboury Lussier Sigurdson Venables

Biography

Joe Venables was born in 1936. He graduated from the School of Architecture at the University of Manitoba in 1961. Venables, who registered with the Manitoba Association of Architects in 1964, found early employment with the Winnipeg office Pratt, Lindgren, Snider, Tomcej. In 1965 he joined the firm of Gaboury Lussier Sigurdson Venables. In 1969 Venables became part of the firm Architects Consortium, where he stayed until he left to establish his own practice in 1975. Venables retired in 1989.

Frank Sigurdson was born in the summer of 1935. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor's degree in architecture in 1959. He then attained a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he worked under the direction of noted modernist architect Louis Kahn. Upon graduation from the University of Manitoba, Sigurdson was employed for two years with the firm Waisman-Ross & Associates. After that, he worked with the London office of Fry, Drew and Partners. Sigurdson returned to Winnipeg in 1962 and assumed a role in the firm Smith Carter and Searle. He registered with the Manitoba Association of Architects in 1966. In 1967, he joined Gaboury Lussier Sigurdson Venables. Sigurdson later moved to Calgary, Alberta.

Denis Lussier was born in the summer of 1938. Lussier graduated with a Bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Manitoba in 1962 and, that year, was hired by the office of Étienne Gaboury. While working with Gaboury's firm, Lussier was architect for a number of the larger projects the office undertook. Lussier registered with the Manitoba Association of Architects in 1965. He passed away in 1975.
