This Queen Anne Revival style home was built for Sir Hugh John Macdonald, premier of Manitoba between 1899–1900 and son of Sir John. A. Macdonald. The three storey mansion has an asymmetrical facade, red brick exterior walls with Tyndall stone trim, and a large wooden verandah. The interior of this National Historic Site is rich with ornate furnishings and finishes and is open as a museum.
