More Information

The layout of the area was considered very modern at the time, as it eliminated the usual street plan, had no backyards and the homes were served by a back entry way. The design was new to Canada and was influenced by designs at Radburn, New Jersey. The homes faced on to parkways or community walks, with vehicular service ways at the rear of the properties. A similar design was used for the Wildwood Park neighbourhood. Fortunately, a dike was constructed along Lyndale Drive which protected the area from the devastating 1950 flood.
