More Information

To complement the park’s new pavilion, the Winnipeg Arts Council put out a call to artists to design a gathering space that incorporated fire pits and seating. The central feature of the winning design is a 6 m high fireplace sculpture. Surrounding it are blocks of rough cut limestone for seating and plantings of prairie grass. These elements work together to create a space and to remind visitors of fire’s importance to the prairie landscape.
