Opened at the height of the philosophy of open-air teaching and the reduction of external stimuli, Elwick elementary school has almost no natural light penetrating its interior, a certain indicator of a layout that most likely no longer exists. Plans for this school were not available to view.
The school was named for the community activist Neville Meldrum Elwick and his wife Ursula Stella Peterman (c1914-1967)
