More Information
For many years this was a middle school named Hastings Junior High but is now a French immersion elementary school, grades kindergarten to Grade 8, with 265 students. The building was constructed by Trident Construction at an approximate cost of $331,000 according to plans developed by Pratt and Lindgren Architects.
This two-storey building of mid-brown brick has remarkable integrity and an attractive and uncommon design
Its original 16 classrooms are frankly expressed in a modular approach were the window design identifies each class along a simply double-loaded corridor; the main entrance, also unchanged, alters the symmetry of the academic wing and faces not the street, but the yard
The entire west wall is a colourful mural
The large yard is shared with the present Hastings elementary school
