Biography

Gershon Mida immigrated to Winnipeg in 1949, at the age of 30. His trade in his home country of Poland was as a cabinet maker. In Winnipeg he initially worked as a carpenter for other Winnipeg builders. After about 4 years he went out as a self- employed general contractor initially building houses mainly in River Heights under his company name G. In addition to many homes in River Heights , for example 655 Queenston St and 719 Queenston St –  (the latter was his family’s first home).
