Argyle School honours Sir John Douglas Sutherland Campbell, Duke of Argyle, Marquis of Lorn and Governor-General of Canada
This is a small school tucked into a triangular site by the northbound ramp of the Disraeli Freeway.
First built in 1881, it was then replaced in 1895 and again in 1951; in deference to the ‘cottage-type’ construction and design of the previous Argyle School, a modern design with some traditional elements was used here.

- The oldest portion fronts square to the street in a simple rectangle with a steel frame and a gently-pitched gable roof, abundant windows and red brick walls; a namestone was set over the remaining east entrance
- A second block on the west side was set at a right angle that continued the same scale and similar design, single storey with a flat roof and a lovely curved end that turns with the street and continues its flat wall in a brightly painted mural
- White window trim and a deep green roof band bounce lively with the red brick
