More Information
Manitoba’s first entirely non-denominational cemetery, this is the final resting place for many prominent people and a special place for the neighborhood. Mr. Frank H. Nutter, a prominent landscape engineer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, designed the cemetery. The plans called for a number of winding gravel avenues interspersed with park-like spaces and a large space reserved in the centre for a mortuary chapel and receiving tomb. Magnificent old elm trees dot the landscape of this beautifully restored cemetery. It is run as a non-profit organization by the Friends of Elmwood Cemetery. Well-maintained, peaceful and park-like, it is a very popular place for walking, jogging and biking.
