More Information

This national historic site was the home of Gabrielle Roy, one of Canada’s most acclaimed authors, for the first 30 years of her life. Roy’s semi-autobiographical novel, Rue Deschambault, pays homage to the large, two and a half storey wood frame house. It opened as a museum in 2003 to celebrate the work of Gabrielle Roy and to encourage French writing and artistic expression in Manitoba.
