More Information
Millennium Library Park is a green roof and urban oasis in the heart of Winnipeg’s downtown. The original park was composed around a large open area featuring an angular concrete pond. Intimate seating areas were set closer to the building, as was a smaller pond somewhat hidden by trees and shrubs. At the centre of the smaller pond, and still a highlight of the park today, is “Rising Form,” a bright orange and yellow abstract sculpture by Tony Tascona. Beginning in 2006, a multi-phase design project transformed the garden. Today, the park includes an urban wetland, boardwalk, prairie and parkland gardens, and areas for both rest and entertainment. New public art includes the iconic Emptyfull by Bill Pechet and Sentinel of Truth by Darren Stebeleski.
