More Information

The three-storey brick and stone building has impressive columns above the entrance and a central copper dome, topped with a cross. The Misericordia Hospital was founded by nuns from Montreal, the Soeurs de la Misericorde. The original south wing completed in 1900 is no longer standing. The centre and north wings form part of the Misericordia Health Centre. Numerous additions have been made as hospital requirements changed.
