More Information
The construction of Alloway Hall created a larger space for travelling exhibits but filled in much of the museum’s courtyard and Main Street entrance. Clad in a mix of concrete, glass, and composite metallic materials, it was surmounted by a roof which repeated the curving lines and copper materials of the planetarium.
Challenged by the limitations of its travelling and temporary exhibit space, Stantec designed an addition which created a larger vertical and horizontal space for travelling exhibits and in the process removed the former hall’s curved roof. The Hall’s standing seam copper cladding is a nod to the adjacent planetarium.
